Lombard Manor - New Owners, New Beginnings
POSITIVE changes are coming to Rideau Lakes, as Lombard Manor proudly announces that from 6 May, 2021 it will have new owners.
The historic landmark which began as The SkyLark Inn in the 1960s and became Lombard Manor in the ‘80s, has been a beloved part of the community for the past 60 years. It's these community roots that new owners Christine and Mathieu Monfils are hoping to grow.
"I've been involved with the residence for the past six months in the run up to purchasing it, and have been so struck by the genuine spirit of others, and the real sense of community there is here," says Christine, whose background is in seniors housing management.
"We are 100% about supporting local, whether that’s dairy farmers, artisan producers or business and services, and already we've received a really warm welcome from those we've reached out to.
"It's our plan to have our residents be much more involved too, and we're excited about working on partnerships and seeing how we can all support each other,” she added
The couple, who are based in Ottawa, also have a strong three-year plan to renovate and make improvements to the building as well as enhance programming and opportunities for those living there.
"We're not looking to take away any of the charm of Lombard", says Mathieu, whose knowledge and experience as a general contractor will be put to good use.
"Our home will always offer comfortable, cozy and affordable country living. But we do want to make some tangible improvements and will be starting immediately.
"We invite anyone to drive by and see the changes that are happening. And, as soon as we're able to open up fully again, we'd love to welcome neighbours to come meet us and the team, and take a tour.
Christine and Mathieu plan to be very hands-on with the development and oversight of the residence, but the day-to-day running of the building will remain in the capable hands of General Manager, Amy Orr and her team.
